I’m in the cafeteria at CHOP right now eating for the first time since Friday night…
To sum things up quickly,
Around 11PM last night I went down to the NICU to ride with the ambulance and Weston to CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). Weston needs to be in the best care and CHOP is equipped to deal with it. The ambulance ride was horrible seeing little Weston on a portable ventilation system and inside his little mobile infant transfer machine. Anyway, we got to CHOP and they got him out of his transfer unit and into CHOP’s NICU. My dad and I were with him for a few hours and were told that he’ll be in good hands and I need some sleep, so I went back to Pennsylvania Hospital with Diana and her Mom and sister. Diana is in a lot of pain (physically and emotionally), but we were able to fall asleep last night. This morning I went back to CHOP (pictured above), here is what I know about his condition:
Weston has a fractured skull and was bleeding from the brain. The bleeding has pooled around his head and face in various areas. Weston is also having frequent shakes, which are basically seizures and is now on medicine to reduce/control them. He is also currently hooked up to an EEG to monitor his brain activity over the next 24+ hours. The rest of his vitals are in the average range and he’s breathing on his on, but they still have a breathing tube just to assist if anything did occur. There is no prognosis just yet, it’s more of a monitor everything type thing. Diana and I have our families with us, so we have support. I’ll try to keep you posted.

Having just returned home from my visit with the new mommy and daddy and baby Weston, I will sleep better tonight. For all of you that can’t make it to Philly, I made the long trip and got to meet baby Weston so hopefully this message will help you all. Diana, you look wonderful and I hope that you get to meet that precious cherub soon. Mickey, you are stronger than I think you ever thought you could be (that goes for the both of you)! Baby Weston is a beautiful baby. He has amazing color and looks like such a healthy baby. The nurse stuck her finger in his mouth before doing some suctioning and he began to suck on it. He had made sucking motions afterwards as well while I was still there, that is great! Having some OT background, any motor movement is a postive sign. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with everyone and I can’t wait to share my 29th birthday with Weston’s 1st birthday in 2010. Love you all!

Micky and Diana,
I know this is very hard for you right now. I am so sorry that you have to go thru this.Your son looks very strong and healthy otherwise and that is in his favor. You must think positively ! You will both be even better parents for having gone thru this ordeal.I am praying for gods strength to heal Weston and to help you both face this and to pull you all thru together. Lean on eachother and your entire family. That is what family is all about. We are ALL here for you both, gather our strength and use it to help hang on and get this this. The sun will come out again you just have to believe.
Love Aunt Pat

I agree with your Aunt Pat….we are ALL here for you, and the mighty power of the risen Lord Jesus is working on your behalf, to bring healing to Weston, and to give both of you the peace, strength, and hope to go on. He will bring all of you through this, and you will be better parents in the end. I love all of you, even though I haven’t yet met Weston. He is beautiful!! Thanks, so much, Mickey, for keeping us all posted. Much love, Colette
“And God is able to make ALL grace abound to you, so that in ALL things at ALL times, having ALL that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Cor. 9:8).

We look at Baby Weston’s picture constantly, and think he is absolutely beautiful, and so healthy looking, which is in his favor!!! We have several prayer chains going, and are confident God’s healing touch will be on Baby Weston. Both you and Diana (and, of course, the baby) are loved by everyone, especially God. Hang in there, never despair, and know we are all in this together. I’m just getting over a sinus unfection, so we’ll be seeing you , hopefully soon. Be strong and confident in the Lord!
Love, Granpa
present time or we’d be with you by now. Be strong and confident in the Lord!!! Love, Granpa B.

Mickey and Diana,
No one deserves to have a healthy happy baby more then the two of you. This saddens me deeply to see you have to go through such an ordeal. Diana my heart breaks for, not being able to be with you son (whom looks just like you) as mom I know how emotionally this is prob the hardest thing you will ever deal with. BUT you are a strong woman and your son needs you rested and healthy. SO please try to stay strong. MICKEY, alll I can say is WOW. You are amazing. Your family is so lucky to have a husband, and daddy so strong. Your love is truly what is pulling your family through such a hard time. With Jaime’s OT background I trust what she says, by seeing motor movements. I hope and pray that your family gets healthy and happy and home quickly. And I cannot wait to meet this cutie.
Love, Jenny
